New Jersey school districts, charter schools, and renaissance school projects are required by statute (N.J.S.A. 18A: 7C-6.6) to annually notify parents or guardians by October 1 or within 30 days of any additional statewide student assessment or commercially developed standardized assessment that will be administered over the course of the school year.
About the NJSLA
Students in grades 3 - 8 are required to take the NJ SLA (New Jersey Student Learning Assessments ) in math and language arts.
Students in grades 4 and 8 are also required to take the NJASK Science Assessment.
These tests are administered in the spring. Please refer to the District Calendar for testing dates for each grade level.
All students in grades 5-8 are required by the State of New Jersey to participate in the New Jersey Student Learning Assessment (NJSLA) in Mathematics and English / Language Arts. These assessments are administered in the spring. The NJSLA replaced PARCC.
All Woodglen Students participate in the Measures of Academic Progress (MAP), which provides a personalized assessment by adapting to each student’s learning level – measuring student progress and growth for each individual. MAP is administered in math and reading three times each year – fall, winter and spring. Fall and winter administrations are used as a formative assessment that allows teachers to adjust and drive instruction. The spring administration is used for the following year’s placement of students in grades 4 – 7. Eighth graders do not take the spring administration.
Orleans-Hanna – Algebra Prognosis Test
The Orleans-Hanna Algebra Prognosis (OHAP) Test is administered to students in eighth grade as part of Voorhees High School’s math and science placement requirements. For information about how this is used by the high school, please contact the Voorhees High School Guidance Department.
The OHAP is also administered to seventh grade students to determine eligibility for placement into eighth grade algebra 1. Fifth grade students may also take the OHAP to determine eligibility for double acceleration in mathematics.
