The Reading Olympics club is open to students in 5th and 6th grades. The purpose of the Reading Olympics club is to encourage students to read more than they currently do, to read a greater variety of books, and to enjoy the excitement of reading. The club starts meeting in mid-November, and each team consists of 8-12 students who agree to read 35 books appropriate for their age and reading level. All students are encouraged to sign up; our school may have as many teams as we like. The team format encourages students to share the challenge of reading the selection of titles with their friends.
Students will be accepted into the Reading Olympics club on a first-come, first-served basis; every attempt will be made to include all interested students.
Meetings are held weekly from November - March
. Teams will meet on Thursday and Friday mornings at 8AM in the library. The first meeting will be held on Friday, December 1st. If there is a delayed opening of school on a meeting day, the meeting will be canceled.
There will be optional afterschool gatherings for students to read and prepare questions. Afterschool sessions end at 5:00PM; click here for the January - March schedule
The date for this year's Reading Olympics Competition is Monday, March 26, 2018!
